Mission: Democracy is BACK

Hey all.

In the midst of the health care debate, the War in Afghanistan debate, and the debate about the Letterman Sax Scandal (which, we all know, is the most important of the three), Mission: Democracy has called me back. The blog, and the movement, has been rather dormant for a good year or so. The transition to college and adult life has certainly taken a tole on my fairly worry-free life. School, friendships, work, and all that jazz has been taking up the entirety of my days.

No longer. While I will still only be able to put in a few posts per day at the most, we will make sure that this mission of ours' moves forward. Let us quickly realize what we are working for, before we work towards that goal. In the next post, we will enumerate the things that we, as Progressives, must put above all else. While we do this, we must remember that the one thing we will always rely on, as Progressives, as Americans, and as People, is this most important character trait: independent mindedness.

Never on this blog, nor during the course of this newly begun movement, will we operate in the belief that we all think alike. It is rather obvious that Progressives do not have a single mind, or a single philosophy, as our counterparts seem to possess. Rather, we are a group of People, as diverse as the snowflakes many of us will soon be seeing. I know those of you that read my blogs will not continually agree with all I have to say. For instance, in a blog not too far off in the distance, I will argue for a more forceful public health plan than the public option being argued in Congress. Many Progressives will disagree with me, and even more may support the position; I do not ask for you to do one or the other. On the contrary, I would very much like to hear what my brothers and sisters on both sides of the aisle think.

Remember. Keep up the fight. We will not get to our common goal in a year, nor will we find this end in a few elections. This much is clear. We must keep in mind, however, that we will make progress towards this most important goal in good time, something that cannot be said if we were to simply hang our heads and quit at the first sign of failure. It is we who are the real moral majority in this nation.
